Revatio (sildenafil) is a medication that relaxes blood vessel muscles and improves blood flow to specific areas of the body. It is primarily used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and enhance exercise capacity in both men and women.
Sildenafil is also known as Viagra when used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men. The primary difference between Revatio and Viagra is the doses available—Revatio is available in 20 mg tablets, while Viagra is available in tablets providing up to 100 mg of sildenafil.
To comply with Canadian International Pharmacy Association regulations you are permitted to order a 3-month supply or the closest package size available based on your personal prescription. read more
Dosage Instructions
Individual dosing recommendations may vary depending on your needs and the personalized advice of your healthcare provider. In general, many dosing schedules adhere to or are similar to the following when used for pulmonary hypertension:
Oral Dosage: Take Revatio three times daily, about 4 to 6 hours apart, as directed by your doctor. The usual dose is 5 to 20 mg orally.
Injection Dosage: Administered as an IV bolus, typically 2.5 to 10 mg three times daily.
Important Usage Guidelines
Revatio can be taken with or without food. Taking it with a snack or meal may prevent an upset stomach.
Revatio is approved for use in children with pulmonary hypertension and is available as a powder for reconstitution into an oral suspension. Once prepared, shake the oral suspension well before measuring your dose. Use the provided dosing syringe or a proper measuring device to ensure dosing accuracy.
Store Revatio at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible, but skip it if your next dose is near. Never double doses.
What to Avoid
Grapefruit and grapefruit products should be limited or avoided, as they can interact with Revatio and increase the risk of side effects. Consult your healthcare provider if you are unsure whether your current level of grapefruit consumption is safe.
Refrain from drinking alcohol, which can exacerbate side effects like dizziness or excessive drowsiness.
Do not use medications or over-the-counter treatments for erectile dysfunction, including alprostadil or yohimbine, without consulting your doctor.
