Proctofoam HC (Hydrocortisone/Pramoxine Hydrochloride) is a prescription rectal foam medication that combines pramoxine, a local anesthetic, with hydrocortisone, a corticosteroid. This dual-action formula helps relieve pain, itching, inflammation, and irritation caused by hemorrhoids, proctitis, and other rectal conditions. It is applied topically to the rectal area using a special applicator and is typically used for short-term relief.
Proctofoam HC (Hydrocortisone/Pramoxine Hydrochloride) is prescribed to:
Relieve discomfort from hemorrhoids, including burning, itching, and pain
Reduce inflammation and swelling in the rectal area
Treat rectal irritation or skin inflammation caused by various conditions
It is especially helpful when inflammation is accompanied by discomfort, making it suitable for both internal and external hemorrhoids, as well as rectal irritation.

Use Proctofoam HC (Hydrocortisone/Pramoxine Hydrochloride) exactly as directed by your doctor. Instructions include:
With the cap on, shake well for 5 to 10 seconds before each use
Hold upright to attach the applicator and dispense—do not turn the can upside down
To prime the container, pull the plunger past the “fill” line on the applicator. Holding upright, press firmly on the flanges and release. A burst of air should be initially produced. One to two pumps are often required before foam is produced.
Press down firmly on cap flanges for 1-2 seconds and release. It’s important to allow 5-10 seconds for the foam to expand before repeating. Repeat until the foam reaches the fill line.
Use the provided applicator to insert the foam gently into the rectal area
Do not insert the applicator fully into the rectum
Wash your hands before and after use
This medication is for rectal use only—do not take by mouth
Do not use more often or for longer than prescribed, as prolonged use may increase the risk of side effects.
