Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces inflammation, pain, fever, and swelling by inhibiting enzymes (primarily COX-2) responsible for producing inflammatory substances (prostaglandins) in the body.
Osteoarthritis (OA): Relieves joint pain, swelling, and stiffness in adults with degenerative joint disease.
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA): Prescribed to manage inflammation, joint pain, and stiffness in adults with an autoimmune form of arthritis.

Meloxicam is prescribed for individuals experiencing chronic inflammatory conditions that cause pain, swelling, and reduced mobility. Unlike opioids, meloxicam does not have addictive properties, making it a preferred choice for long-term pain management in many patients with arthritis and other chronic inflammatory diseases.
It is often recommended when:
First-line pain relievers (e.g., acetaminophen) are ineffective.
Patients require long-term treatment but want to avoid opioids.
Inflammation is a primary cause of pain and stiffness.
To maximize benefits and reduce risks, meloxicam should be taken exactly as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Oral Tablets and Capsules:
Take once daily with or without food.
Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew extended-release forms.
Injection (IV Form - Anjeso):
Administered by a healthcare provider via infusion over 15 seconds for acute pain relief.
Suspensions Providing Weight-Based Dosing (Children & Adolescents):
Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA): Dosage is based on weight, and children under 60 kg should not take tablet formulations.
Take the missed dose as soon as remembered, but skip it if the next dose is soon.
Do not double dose to compensate for a missed one.
Symptoms include severe stomach pain, vomiting blood, confusion, fainting, seizures, or difficulty breathing.
Seek emergency medical attention immediately or call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 in the US or 1-844-POISON-X (1-844-764-7669) in Canada.
