Prolensa (Bromfenac Ophthalmic Solution) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) formulated for use in the eyes. It is primarily prescribed to reduce pain and inflammation following cataract surgery. By blocking the production of prostaglandins—chemicals that contribute to inflammation—Prolensa helps support healing and improve postoperative comfort. It is typically applied once daily and is intended for short-term use.
Prolensa (Bromfenac Ophthalmic Solution) is prescribed to:
Reduce inflammation and eye pain following cataract surgery
Improve postoperative recovery and reduce the risk of complications
Help patients with sensitive or reactive eyes heal more comfortably
It is particularly useful for patients who may be at higher risk for postoperative inflammation, such as those with diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, or multiple surgeries in a short period of time.
To comply with Canadian International Pharmacy Association regulations you are permitted to order a 3-month supply or the closest package size available based on your personal prescription. read more
Take Prolensa (Bromfenac Ophthalmic Solution) exactly as directed by your ophthalmologist. Standard usage instructions often include:
Standard dose: One drop in the affected eye once daily, beginning one day before surgery and continuing for 14 days after surgery
Do not exceed the prescribed number of days or dosage
Do not use while wearing contact lenses; wait at least 10 minutes after applying the drops before reinserting them
How to apply:
Wash hands thoroughly
Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid
Place one drop into the small pocket formed by the eyelid
Close your eyes gently for 1–2 minutes
Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye or any surface. Eye drops are sterile, and avoiding contact helps prevent infection.
Before using Prolensa (Bromfenac Ophthalmic Solution), tell your doctor if you have a history of:
Asthma or sulfite allergy
Allergic reactions to aspirin or other NSAIDs
Dry eye syndrome
Bleeding disorders or slow healing
Diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis
Multiple recent eye surgeries
Are allergic to bromfenac or any other ingredients in the formulation
Are pregnant or may become pregnant, unless you’ve specifically discussed the risks and benefits of therapy with your doctor.
Use caution when driving or operating machinery, as Prolensa may temporarily blur vision. Do not use any other eye drops unless approved by your doctor.
No special diet is required while using Prolensa.
Systemic interactions are relatively unlikely when using an ophthalmic NSAID like Prolensa, but your healthcare provider may advise avoiding alcohol or certain dietary supplements.
If you miss a dose:
Apply it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose
